SAMARRA - A Turkish tanker driver was killed in Balad, 75 kilometers north of Iraqi capital of Baghdad, on Friday, police said.
Police said that armed assailants opened fire on the vehicle, and killed the Turkish driver named Adil Abdullah.
The police noted that Abdullah had earlier been kidnapped, and released after he promised not to carry fuel to U.S. forces.
Thus, the number of Turkish lorry drivers killed in Iraq within a week reached five.
