ZURICH, Switzerland (AFP) - Football's world ruling body FIFA have extended worldwide a seven-month ban handed out to disgraced former Chelsea striker Adrian Mutu.
Romania captain Mutu, who was sacked by the English Premierhship giants after he tested positive for cocaine, had originally been suspended for seven months by the English Football Association.
However FIFA's disciplinary committee extended that ban Friday to all matches and all countries, meaning the 25-year-old player will not be able to participate in domestic, international, friendly or official fixtures.
Mutu, who has been training with Romanian side Dinamo Bucharest and in recent days had been linked with an eventual move to Italian giants Juventus, can appeal the decision but must do so within three days of receiving notification of FIFA's ruling.
