GOKSUN - Turkey's interior minister said on Thursday that efforts continued to find Grand Unity Party (BBP)chairman Muhsin Yazicioglu and accompanying people, whose helicopter crashed on its way to the central Anatolian province of Yozgat Wednesday afternoon.
Holding a press conference at Yozgat's Goksun town, Turkish Interior Minister Besir Atalay said that the latest communication with the helicopter was held with a journalist on board.
Atalay said all relevant units started working upon getting the initial information on the accident.
"Officials tried to determine the location of the helicopter through the phone conversation. They tried to gather information based on base stations and coordinates. Officials from the Transportation Ministry also checked if there was any signal from the helicopter," he said.
"The helicopter should have a device that transmits a signal. However, we cannot get any signals at the moment," Atalay added.
Atalay said that there was currently a heavy fog and snowfall in the region, adding that search & rescue teams were searching an area of nearly 20-30 km.
