Safak Hospitals Group Merges With Greek Hygeia Group

ISTANBUL - Turkey`s Safak Hospitals Group merged with Greek Hygeia Group on Saturday.
The merger was announced in a ceremony held at Istanbul`s Ciragan Palace.
The ceremony was attended by Turkish State Minister and Chief Negotiator for European Union (EU) talks Egemen Bagis and Greek Minister of Health and Social Solidarity Dimitrios Avramopoulos.
Speaking at the ceremony, Egemen Bagis said that at a time of global financial crisis, this partnership between the two groups was very important.
Avramopoulos, on his part, said that the distance between Turkey and Greece was a psychological one.
This merger had lifted the psychological distance, Avramopoulos also said.
Hygeia Group became a partner of Safak Hospitals by purchasing 50 percent of shares for an amount of 48 million USD.
