MOSCOW, Nov 5 (AFP) - Russian forces operating in the breakaway southern republic of Chechnya found Turkish identity papers on two men they killed near the capital Grozny, the Russian chief of staff said on Friday, describing the dead as "mercenaries."
"A federal unit discovered an armed gang in the suburbs of Grozny," General Ilya Shabalkin said in the statement, carried by the Interfax news agency.
The statement gave no further details.
