BRUSSELS (AFP) - French President Jacques Chirac said he was worried by the fall of the US dollar on currency markets, and called on European leaders to reflect on the "consequences".
"Yes, I am a little worried" about the rise of the euro, which is nearing record highs against the US currency, he told reporters at a European Union summit in Brussels.
"The EU would be well advised to take into account (the dollar's plunge)," Chirac said Friday.
"It is to be studied by the European Central Bank," he said, adding that Europe should "draw the consequences" of the exchange rate movements.
