ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his meeting with German Greens Group Co-Chairperson Claudia Roth thanked Germany for its contributions to Turkey's EU full membership process.
At the meeting, Erdogan gave information about the recent studies on adjustment to the EU acquisitions.
Stating that several people in France, who were known as intellectuals, thought that a start date for EU membership negotiations could be given to Turkey on December 17th, Erdogan said he wanted Roth to brief German public on this issue.
Claudia Roth in her part said they wanted to be constructive about Turkey but they thought there were issues that should be criticized. She said they clearly expressed those issues.
Erdogan thanked Germany for its good will in this respect and gave information about the campaigns launched for education, studies that were made to overcome regional differences and activities of the government in protection of the environment.
Roth said the Greens Group wanted establishment of a foundation university in Turkey which would give education in German language and appointment of an official at Justice and Development Party (AK Party) for communication.
-MEETING WITH MIHAYLOVA-
Meanwhile, in his meeting with Nadezhda Mihaylova, vice-president of European People's Party, Erdogan said women understood each other better and wanted her to meet German Christian Democrat Party leader Angela Merkel and persuade her about Turkey's EU membership.
Mihaylova said she had met Merkel two times before and explained what kind of contributions that Turkey could make to the EU.
Mihaylova said she would discuss the issue with Merkel again.
