ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul received Claudia Roth, co-chairperson of the Group of the Greens/European Free Alliance in Germany, and accompanying delegation on Tuesday.
No statement was released about the meeting that lasted nearly 45 minutes at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building.
The German delegation are going to be received also by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Yasar Yakis, Chairman of the Turkish Parliamentary Commission for Adjustment to the EU .
During their stay in Turkey until November 5th, the German delegation will have meetings in Istanbul, Sirnak and Diyarbakir.
Meanwhile, sources told the A.A that during the meeting, Gul expressed his opinions to Roth about the progress report, EU summit in Brussels on December 17th and Iraq and Cyprus issues.
Sources said that Gul told German delegation members that Turkey ''expects to get a definite opening date of entry talks at the EU summit on December 17th and does not expect a treatment different from the procedures imposed on other candidate countries''.
Sources said that upon the delegation members' question about the Cyprus issue, Gul ''conveyed Turkey's opinions, stressed that Turkey had fulfilled its responsibilities and stated that now it is the Greek Cypriot administration's and the EU's turn to fulfil their responsibilities''.
