Denktas Says Opening Of Derinya Border Pass Meaningless

LEFKOSA - President Rauf Denktas of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Thursday that opening of Derinya border pass would be meaningless.
When a reporter recalled that the Greek Cypriots have drawn a parallel between the opening of Bostanci border crossing in Guzelyurt region of TRNC and the opening of a border pass in Derinya village near TRNC city of Gazimagusa, Denktas said, ''this (such a condition) means saying 'I don't want Bostanci border pass to be opened. Because, they know that we can't open a border crossing in Derinya. It is meaningless to open Derinya border pass. Because, there are two border crossings very close to each other in that region, and therefore nobody is facing problems.''
On the other hand, Denktas said that an interim (election) government should be formed in TRNC until parliamentary elections were held.
