Michael Moore plans to attend Florida ballot protest

MIAMI, Oct 28 (AFP) - Controversial US filmmaker and activist Michael Moore headed to Florida Thursday to join a protest against the disappearance of tens of thousands of absentee ballots, his publicist said.
The maker of "Fahrenheit 9/11" was due to take part in the protest Thursday evening in Fort Lauderdale to address the missing ballot issue, said Terri Hardesty.
Broward County electoral officials said they had no idea what happened to the ballots they mailed out but were never received by voters adding that to be on the safe side they were sending out 76,000 new ballots.
The filmmaker, a staunch opponent of President George W. Bush, is on a US tour dubbed "slacker uprising" that aims at mobilizing voters for the November 2 election.
Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11", an unflattering portrayal of Bush's handling of September 11, raked in almost 120 million dollars at US theatres.
