LONDON (AFP) - Manchester police have been asked give evidence into the Old Trafford buffet battle when an Arsenal player was alleged to have thrown soup and pizza at Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.
No criminal charges will be brought but the Football Association want to hear from police, who were in the dressing room corridor when the incident ocurred, to decide if they should press any charges of their own.
"We will be looking to gather information from different sources," an FA spokesman said.
During the melee an unidentified Arsenal player was said to have thrown a cup of hot soup and pizza at Ferguson when he entered the tunnel after pumping his fists at fans following his team's 2-0 victory, which ended the Gunners' 49-match unbeaten run in the league.
The United manager wore a complete change of clothing for his television interview after the match.
The incidents were missed by referee Mike Riley and his assistants and they will not be mentioned in the official's report to the FA.
