LONDON (AFP) - Manchester City boss Kevin Keegan has been charged by the Football Association for his confrontation with referee Steve Dunn in the tunnel after Sunday's 4-3 defeat to Newcastle.
Keegan was furious with the referee and he has alleged to have insulted or abused him as the pair headed down the tunnel.
Dunn has provided a detailed description of Keegan's comments in his match report.
Keegan has been charged with abusive or insulting words and behaviour to the referee, the FA said on their website.
Given his previously unblemished record, it is likely Keegan would only be fined if found guilty, rather than be banned from the touchline.
