NEW TURKEY PARTY JOINS REPUBLICAN PEOPLE'S PARTY
New Turkey Party (YTP) decided to join Republican People's Party (CHP) at a convention held in Ankara yesterday. Out of the 315 delegates, 303 voted in favor of the new union while 9 opposed. There were two abstaining votes.
PRINCE CHARLES IN ISTANBUL
Prince Charles has arrived in Istanbul to participate in the reopening ceremony of the British Consulate General, which was damaged in a bombing late last year. After the ceremony today, Prince Charles will go to Ankara where he will meet President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
HONEY PRODUCERS GET TOGETHER TO FORM 'HONEY UNION'
Turkey's eight biggest honey producers are getting together to form a new 'honey union.' Nedim Kalpaklioglu, chief executive officer of NKM International Trading Co. in Izmir, said, ''our goal is to increase domestic consumption of honey in Turkey as well as increase sales in global markets.''

PRINCE CHARLES IN TURKEY
Britain's Prince Charles came to Istanbul to reopen the British Consulate nearly one year after pickup truck bomb attack. The consulate which will be reopened in a ceremony on Monday, was one of the two British targets of the November 2003 suicide attacks that killed more than 60 people in Istanbul. British Consul-General Roger Short and 15 others were killed when a suicide bomber smashed a pickup truck into the gate of the consulate. Prince Charles is scheduled to proceed to Ankara to meet President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
SIX INJURED IN A BOMB ATTACK
A bomb exploded at the entrance of a McDonald's restaurant in northern city of Trabzon, injuring six people. The injured were passing by the restaurant when the blast occurred. ''It was a bomb but we don't know its type,'' Trabzon Police Chief Ramazan Akyurek said.

EXPORTS FROM GAP TO EUROPE INCREASE
Exports from the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP) region to European Union (EU) member countries rose 55 percent from 171.4 million U.S. dollars to 265.6 million U.S. dollars.
TWO SOLDIERS KILLED
Two Turkish soldiers were killed and four others were wounded in southeastern city of Diyarbakir when their vehicle hit an anti-personnel land-mine planted by terrorists.
ANOTHER TURKISH TRUCK DRIVER KILLED IN IRAQ
Gunmen shot dead a Turkish truck driver in northern part of Iraq a day after two other Turkish truckers were killed near the city of Mosul. The body of the man, who was driving a refined oil products tanker, was found on Sunday beside a highway near Iraq's largest refinery at Baiji.

KIRCI TO BE EXTRADITED
Haluk Kirci who was sentenced to death penalty for killing seven young members of a labor party in Bahcelievler neighborhood Ankara in 1978, will be extradited to Turkey in the coming days. Kirci was captured in a town near Ukrainian capital Kiev.
SORROWFUL CLOSING OF YTP
New Turkey Party (YTP) led by former Foreign Minister Ismail Cem decided to join the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP). In its extraordinary meeting, party members decided to join the CHP. CHP leader Deniz Baykal launched an appeal on the YTP to join his party on October 2nd. Cem and YTP Central Executive Board decided that CHP-YTP merger was feasible after they assessed CHP leader Baykal's call.

ERDOGAN ASKS FOR SUPPORT
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan asked support of Greece and the Greek Cypriot side to Turkey's EU membership process prior to the EU Summit on December 17th. The Greek Cypriot side implied that it could use its right to veto.
MINE GOES OFF KILLING TWO SOLDIERS
Two soldiers were killed and four others were injured when their vehicle hit an anti-personnel land mine near southeastern city of Diyarbakir. Meanwhile, a small oil pipeline was damaged by a time-bomb in the nearby city of Batman. The pipeline was carrying crude from a local pump to a refinery in southeastern Turkey. The blast sparked a fire on the pipeline and caused about 6,000 barrels of oil to spill out.

TURKEY TO ESTABLISH RAILWAY COMPANY WITH SYRIA
Turkish Industry & Trade Minister Ali Coskun, who is currently paying an official visit to Syria, was received by the Syrian Prime Minister. During the meeting, the Turkish party said that it wanted to establish a joint railway company with Syria. The Syrian party welcomed the proposal.

BOMB ATTACK ON MCDONALDS
A bomb exploded at the entrance of a McDonald's restaurant in northern city of Trabzon, injuring six people including a child. A man seen leaving the area on foot is wanted by the police who suspect that he planted the bomb. Several children had been celebrating two birthday parties inside the restaurant. The windows of the McDonald's were smashed in the blast.

SUPER PROSECUTORS TO FIGHT CORRUPTION
Fight against corruption will be coordinated by the Prime Ministry. Special super prosecutors will be appointed to fight corruption.
