ANKARA - Haluk Kirci, who was wanted by red bulletin, was arrested in Ukrainian capital of Kiev, sources said on Saturday.
Sources told A.A correspondent that Turkish Directorate General of Security notified the Ukrainian police about a tip-off that Kirci was in Ukraine.
The same sources said that Kirci was detained in a town, 200-kilometers away from capital Kiev.
Turkish officials have launched initiatives for extradition of Kirci.
Kirci was sentenced to death penalty on charges of killing seven young people who were members of a labor party, in Bahcelievler neighborhood of Turkish capital of Ankara in 1978.
His death penalty was later commuted into life imprisonment after some legal amendments were made. But, Kirci was released from prison as he was re-tried by the Odemis Criminal Court upon the request of his lawyers.
Later, he was re-tried as the families of the seven young people who were killed in 1978 sued him. This time, the court decided to send Kirci back to prison to serve his remaining punishment.
But, Kirci could not be found, and a red bulletin was issued to find him.
