ANKARA - New Turkey Party (YTP) led by former Turkish Foreign Minister Ismail Cem decided on Sunday to join the main opposition Republican People`s Party (CHP).
In its extraordinary meeting, party members decided to join the CHP.
CHP leader Deniz Baykal launched an appeal on the YTP to join his party on October 2nd.
Cem and YTP Central Executive Board decided that CHP-YTP merger was feasible after they assessed CHP leader Baykal`s call.
YTP was established on July 22nd, 2002 by Ismail Cem and his political friends, who resigned from Democratic Left Party (DSP) which was one of the partners of the coalition government during those days.
