ANKARA - Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Namik Tan said on Friday, ''we believe that the EU would make a decision at its summit on December 17th to open entry talks with Turkey as soon as possible.''
Speaking at the weekly news conference, Tan said, ''after the European Commission released its Progress Report on Turkey on October 6th, a process of exchanging views has begun. Turkey's views were explained on the highest-level to European public opinion and politicians.''
''Our expectation is quite clear. In its Progress Report, the European Commission recommended the EU to open entry talks with Turkey without delay. We believe that the EU would make a decision at its summit on December 17th to open entry talks with Turkey as soon as possible,'' Tan told reporters.
