Asian Development Bank To Convene In Istanbul In 2005

ANKARA - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will convene in Istanbul in 2005, sources told the A.A on Friday.
The 38th Annual Meeting of ADB Board of Governors will be held on May 2nd and 6th, 2005.
Ministers, high-level bureaucrats, representatives of banking sectors and NGOs of the member countries will convene at Istanbul's Lutfi Kirdar Congress Hall.

-ADB DELEGATION DUE IN TURKEY-

Under preparatory works, a delegation of ADB will come to Turkey on October 25th and 29th to hold a series of meetings.
Manila, the Philippines-based ADB is a multilateral development finance institution dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific. Established in 1966, ADB is now owned by 63 members, mostly from the region.
Turkey joined ADB in 1991, and became the 28th biggest share-holder.

-SUBJECTS OF THE MEETING-

The annual meeting is expected to focus on prospects of cooperation among public and private sectors for a sustainable development.
Obstacles in front of legal reforms for development; urban finance; infrastructure-development; economic cooperation in Asia; retirement funds in Asia; economic outlook of Asia; and Chinese economy are among the topics to be discussed at the meeting.
