BERLIN - Members of Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD) continued on Thursday lobbying for Turkey's European Union (EU) membership bid in German capital of Berlin.
TUSIAD group headed by Executive Board Chairman Omer Sabanci met Volker Ruehe, former German Minister of Defense and head of Federal Parliament's Foreign Affairs Commission; Uta Zapf and Lale Akgun, two parliamentarians from Social Democrat Party (SPD); and Thomas Kossendey, the deputy chairman of Turkish-German Interparliamentary Friendship Group.
In their meetings, members of TUSIAD explained steps taken by Turkey to adjust to the EU, and lobbied for a positive decision of the European Council to be held on December 17th. (EU heads of state and government will decide whether and when to open negotiations with Turkey at European Council due on December 17th.)
TUSIAD delegation will meet Christian Democrat Union (CDU) Secretary General Laurenz Meyer this evening.
The group will meet Claudia Roth and Reinhard Buetikofer, the co-chairpersons of the Greens; SPD leader Franz Muentefering; and Friedrich Merz and Wolfgang Schaeuble, the deputy chairmen of the group of the CDU/CSU parties, tomorrow (Friday).
