ISTANBUL - EP-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Commission Co-President Joost Lagendijk said on Thursday that if the Turkish government focused only on details and could not see recommendatory decision of the European Parliament as a whole, it made a serious mistake.
Speaking at closing session of the conference organized by EP Greens/EFA (European Freedoms Alliance) Group in Istanbul on ''Turkey in the EU: A Common Future'', Lagendijk said that the European Commission recommended the EU to open entry talks with Turkey, noting that the Greens Group had been supporting Turkey's EU membership process.
''Human rights, torture, minority rights and similar issues will be high on agenda not till December but also for the next few years. As Greens Group, we will continue discussing these issues until they are met at hundred percent,'' Lagendijk added.
