VIENNA/ANKARA - Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the Chairman of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), was elected as a member of the executive board of the Association of European Chambers of Commerce and Industry (EUROCHAMBERS) with the highest vote.
Releasing a written statement, TOBB said on Thursday that EUROCHAMBERS is the biggest organization of European business world as it represents 2,000 chambers and 17 million organizations.
Hisarciklioglu told reporters that throughout his membership, he will try to develop relations between EUROCHAMBERS and Balkan, Black Sea and Caucasian countries.
He said that his membership will be an important step for Turkish business world to open abroad. He added that role of business world in Turkey-EU integration is still continuing.
The highest representatives of business worlds of EUROCHAMBERS member countries will meet on April 1st, 2005 in Istanbul.
