Recovering Bill Clinton to stump for Kerry

WATERLOO, Iowa, Oct 20 (AFP) - Former US president Bill Clinton, recovering from heart surgery, will take part in a John Kerry rally next week, giving what Democrats hope will be a crucial boost to their presidential candidate.
"He's going to join John Kerry at a campaign rally in Philadelphia on Monday," Kerry spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said Thursday.
"This is all that is scheduled so far, we're trying to work out the rest," Cutter added.
Clinton, still a potent stump campaigner, had been scheduled to play a significant role in the Kerry campaign in the run up to the November 2 election, but those plans were derailed by a quadruple bypass operation on September 6.
His return will be cause for optimism among Democrats looking for any advantage to break the poll deadlock between Kerry and President George W. Bush in a number of battleground states.
Clinton, 58, has been recuperating at his home in Chappaqua, New York, since undergoing surgery, limiting his contribution to the Kerry campaign to advice offered over the telephone.
