LONDON (AFP) - Former Chelsea goalkeeper Mark Bosnich wants to return to professional football after serving a nine-month ban for testing positive for cocaine.
The 32-year-old Australian has not played professionally since being sacked by Chelsea in January 2003 but says he is keen to make a comeback.
"I'm clean and have been for eight weeks," he told Tuesday's edition of the Daily Express.
"It was just another challenge, another mountain to climb. A lot of people have far worse problems."
Bosnich, who also played for Aston Villa and Manchester United, says his mind was made up by his appearance in Sky TV's reality programme The Match, which pitted a celebrity team against former professionals.
"I wanted it to be my final farewell but I had such a good time and talking to the players made me have second thoughts," he added.
"When people you look up to, like Bryan Robson, say 'Why don't you start playing again?', you have to listen."
