At least six killed, 27 wounded in Baghdad car bomb: interior ministry

BAGHDAD, Oct 18 (AFP) - A Baghdad car bomb killed at least six people and wounded 27 when it exploded outside a late night coffee shop, the interior ministry said early Monday.
"At least six people were killed and 27 wounded in the explosion, probably caused by a car bomb, outside a cafe in the Jadriyah district" in central Baghdad, an interior ministry spokesman said.
The victims were rushed to hospital and the toll could rise, he explained, adding "several people were seriously hurt."
The car bombing was at least the fourth such attack around the country since Friday when the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan began.
Muslims, who fast during the day, often stay out at night during the holy month, visiting with friends at places like the targeted coffee house. It was the first car bombing in Baghdad since the holiday started.
On Thursday, a pair of bombings killed at least five people, including four Americans, inside the heavily fortified Green Zone, home to the Iraqi government and the US embassy.
