BERLIN/ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul is expected to launch initiatives during his official visit to Germany to change some points in the recommendation part of the European Commission's Progress Report which have caused uneasiness in Turkey.
German high-level officials told the A.A correspondent on Sunday that Turkey-EU relations following the Progress Report would be high on agenda of Gul's meetings with German officials.
Gul will hold a bilateral meeting with German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer for the first time after the European Commission released its report on October 6th.
During the meeting, Fischer is expected to reiterate that the German government had been supporting Turkey's EU membership process while Gul will express Turkey's uneasiness about some points in the recommendation part of the Progress Report.
German officials says that the EU did not make any discrimination against Turkey. German government thinks that Turkey's making critical statements about the Progress Report would not help the decision to be made at the EU's summit in December.
Gul is also scheduled to hold talks with German Federal Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission Chairman Volker Ruhe, Free Democrat Party (FDP) leader Guido Westerwelle and Christian Democrat Union (CDU) leader Angela Merkel.
He will meet representatives of Turkish associations in Germany.
