ISTANBUL, Oct 16 (AFP) - A Turkish court Saturday arrested three alleged militants from a notorious far-left group suspected of plotting "sensational" bomb attacks, officials and media reports said.
The court released two other people whom police had detained in an operation against the outlawed Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) in Istanbul, Anatolia news agency reported.
A search of the suspects' homes resulted in the seizure of some 1.5 kilograms (3.3 pounds) of dynamite and other materials which could be used to make bombs, the anti-terror department of the Istanbul police said in a statement.
Police told Anatolia that in one of the houses they seized a teddy bear in which a bomb had been planted.
The court charged two suspects -- one of them a woman -- with "membership of an illegal organization."
The two "were preparing sensational acts and were caught with fake identity cards," an unnamed police official told Anatolia.
The court arrested the third person on charges of "aiding and abetting an illegal organization."
The DHKP-C, which aims to spark a Marxist revolution among the working classes, has been blacklisted as a terrorist organisation by both the United States and the European Union.
Recently, the group was blamed for an explosion in a bus in Istanbul in June, ahead of a NATO summit in Turkey's largest city, which killed the woman carrying the bomb and three others.
Five DHKP-C militants and a soldier were killed in a clash in northern Turkey last month.
