LOS ANGELES, Oct 13 (AFP) - A herbalist who claims Michael Jackson failed to pay him for treatment for a pain killer addiction has sued the pop icon for nearly one million dollars, court documents showed Thursday.
Herbal medicinalist Alfredo Bowman, who goes by the name of Doctor Sebi, sued the embattled star for 380,000 dollars in unpaid bills plus another 600,000 dollars in lost revenues, the papers filed in Los Angeles showed.
Bowman claims he "deferred all of his current clients and declined various speaking engagements" for six months to work for Jackson, costing him about 100,000 a month, the amount in lost revenues he is now claiming.
Jackson's representatives could not immediately be reached for comments but media reports have quoted the 46-year-old singer's aides as denying that he received detox treatment from Bowman.
Bowman however contended in the documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday that he provided and prepared "special herbal compounds" and trained cooks "to prepare meals exclusively" for Jackson.
Bowman says his financial consultant "invoiced Michael Jackson at a reduced rate of 58,000 dollars, based upon an agreement that all invoices would be payable upon receipt. But Jackson never paid up, the suit states.
In an interview with Celebrity Justice, Bowman said he travelled with the singer accused in separate child abuse proceedings to Colorado and Hawaii a couple of months after the star was charged with molestation.
In addition to the charges that he molested a 12-year-old boy at his Neverland Ranch last year, Jackson has faced a flurry of other lawsuits in legal months including one for allegedly unpaid travel expenses.
Jackson has pleaded innocent to the child abuse charges.
