GAZA CITY, Oct 13 (AFP) - A Palestinian teenager was shot dead and two others were wounded by Israeli army gunfire in the Rafah refugee camp of southern Gaza late Wednesday, Palestinian medical sources said.
Jihad Barhoum, 16, died after being hit by a bullet which passed through his chest and came out of his back, the sources told AFP.
The teenager's death raised to 117 the total number of Palestinians killed in Gaza since the launch two weeks ago of the army's so-called Operation Days of Penitence aimed at stopping Palestinian cross-border rocket attacks into Israel.
It also brought the overall toll since the September 2000 start of the Palestinian uprising to 4,481, including 3,453 Palestinians and 954 Israelis, according to an AFP count.
