Michael Jackson moved on 12 October 2004 to have Eminem's "Just Lose It" video pulled from television, calling the clip demeaning and disrespectful. The video features a Jackson look-alike sitting on a bed among children.
Jackson, then 46 and awaiting trial on child molestation charges, was targeting broadcasters rather than pursuing a lawsuit, according to his spokeswoman, Raymone Bain. She said Eminem "has crossed the line" and that pulling the video was Jackson's first priority.
The song and video mock several parts of Jackson's public life, including his plastic surgery and a Pepsi commercial shoot in the early 1990s during which his hair caught fire. Black Entertainment Television agreed to stop airing the video and urged other US networks to do the same. It remained in rotation on MTV.
Jackson had pleaded not guilty in April to 10 counts, among them child molestation and giving a minor alcohol, over accusations involving a 12-year-old boy at his Neverland Ranch. He was free on three million dollars bail, with the next hearing set for that week in Santa Maria, California.
Where it stands now. Jackson was acquitted on all counts in June 2005. He died on 25 June 2009 at age 50.
