WASHINGTON, Oct 11 (AFP) - Bruce Springsteen, REM, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews and the Dixie Chicks will end the "Vote for Change" tour intended to aid the election campaign against President George W. Bush with final official concert in Washington.
The US capital is the last and 33rd stop for the tour of 11 states considered key to winning the November 2 presidential election.
Jackson Browne, James Taylor, John Mellencamp and Jurassic 5 are also among the guests for the four-hour concert.
"This unprecedented coming-together of musicians underscores the depth of the desire for change in our country's direction and it feels right to use some of the freedoms granted to us in a democracy to try and effect that change," said REM bassist, Mike Mills.
The tour set off on October 2 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
It is the first time Springsteen, 55, has broken his policy of not getting involved in politics.
"This year, for many of us, the stakes have risen too high to sit this election out," Springsteen said in a recent New York Times editorial.
"I don't think John Kerry and John Edwards have all the answers. I do believe they are sincerely interested in asking the right questions and working their way toward honest solutions," he said.
