Bush Holds Narrow Edge Over Kerry in Latest Poll

With the U.S. presidential election just weeks away, President George W. Bush maintains a slim advantage over Democratic challenger John Kerry, according to a national survey released Sunday.

The ABC television poll found Bush drawing support from 50 percent of likely voters, while Kerry registered 46 percent. Independent candidate and consumer advocate Ralph Nader received 1 percent.

The telephone survey was conducted from 6 to 9 October 2004, reaching 2,407 adults in total. Of those, 2,030 were registered voters, and 1,589 were identified as likely voters.

The poll carries a margin of error of 2.5 percentage points among likely voters. Americans are set to vote on 2 November 2004.
