BURSA - One of the most important centers of textile and ready made garment industry in Turkey, Bursa, has exported textile goods valued at 979,494,000 Dollars within the first nine months of this year. The total amount exported within the same period last year was valued at 842,544,000 Dollars.
During the first nine months of 2004 Bursa saw an increase of 4.4 per cent in the sales of ready made garments and an increase of 28.7 per cent in the sales of textiles.
According to figures released by the Uludað Exporters Union (UÝB), the total exports made in the ready made garment sector in September 2004 reached an impressive amount of 49,345,000 Dollars. Last year, the ready made garment industry reached a total sales amount of 44,751,000 Dollars in September.
The textile sector in Bursa reached a sales volume of 65,528,000 Dollars in September 2004. In September 2003, the total sales were only at 49,786,000 USD in the textiles area.
The ready made garment sector exported goods to 7 free trade regions and 92 countries while the textile sector reached 11 free trade regions and 102 countries.
