Industrial Production Increases By 8.8 Percent In August

ANKARA - Industrial production of Turkey increased by 8.8 percent in August 2004 when compared with August 2003, Turkish State Institute of Statistics (SIS) announced on Friday.
SIS said that the monthly industrial production index with 1997 base year, increased by 8.8 percent in August of 2004 over to the same month of the previous year.
Accordingly, production in manufacturing industry increased by 9 percent in August 2004. The increase in electricity, gas and water production was 5.6 percent while the production in mining industry rose by 11.9 percent during the same month.
