US soldier killed in northern Iraq, another dies of wounds suffered days ago

BAGHDAD, Oct 8 (AFP) - A US soldier was killed and another wounded in a roadside bomb blast in northern Iraq on Friday afternoon, while a third soldier died of wounds suffered in a similar attack in Baghdad last week, the military said.
"One Task Force Danger soldier was killed and another was wounded when anti-Iraqi forces attacked their patrol near Tuz on October 8 at about 11:43 am (0843 GMT)," a statement said, using the common military term for insurgents.
Tuz, 60 kilometres (35 miles) south of Kirkuk, is home to Kurds, Arabs and Turkmen and has been rocked by ethnic violence.
Later in the day a soldier wounded in a roadside bombing southwest of the Iraqi capital on October 1 passed away, the military said.
The latest deaths bring to 1,063 the number of US troops killed in Iraq since last year's invasion.
