England international Woodgate injures left thigh

MADRID (AFP) - England international defender Jonathan Woodgate, who had been expecting to make his Real Madrid debut in 10 days' time, pulled up in training with pain in his left thigh, the club said.
Woodgate had been playing in a training match between first-teamers and reserves for about 20 minutes when he felt a sudden pain in his leg forcing him to quickly return to the changing rooms.
Woodgate, who cost Real 20 million euros from Newcastle, arrived in Spain with a torn left thigh muscle, which had already meant he had to miss the Euro 2004 finals in Portugal.
