ANKARA - ''European Union (EU) will start to expend serious financial aid to Turkey after 2006,'' Hansjorg Kretschmer, the head of European Union (EU) Commission Office in Turkey said on Wednesday.
''We believe that there will be more foreign capital inflow to Turkey after it gets a start date for entry negotiations'' Kretschmer told A.A correspondent.
Kretschmer said confidence in Turkey's economy and politics will increase after starting of full membership negotiations. ''Full membership can take place earlier than expected in case Turkey fulfills its assignments well'' Kretschmer added.
Speaking about the financial aid, Kretschmer said this aid would meet all Turkey's needs during adjustment period.
Kretschmer also said that EU's financial aid to Turkey will be extended to finance projects to be realized after 2006.
