Turkish Parliament Fails To Elect Its New Speaker In First Round Of Vote

ANKARA - The Turkish parliament failed to elect its new speaker in the first round of vote on Wednesday.
None of the two candidates won 367 votes which is required in the first round.
Candidate and former Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc won 334 votes while other candidate Serpil Yildiz got 157 votes.
The parliament started the second round of vote. One of the candidates has to win 367 votes, which is equal to two-thirds of the parliamentarians, in order to become the new parliament speaker of Turkey in the second round.
