Bomb found at cafe inside Baghdad's well-guarded Green Zone: US embassy

BAGHDAD, Oct 6 (AFP) - A bomb was found and made safe at a popular cafe in the heart of the heavily fortified zone in Baghdad that houses foreign diplomats and key Iraqi government buildings, the US embassy said on Wednesday.
It warned all American citizens working in the so-called Green Zone to take special security measures such as avoiding a number of the restaruants that dot the sprawling, walled area in the heart of the capital.
"US embassy security personnel discovered an Improvised Explosive Device at the Green Zone Cafe" Tuesday at lunchtime, an embassy statement said.
A specially trained explosives team disarmed the contraption.
The embassy, based in the zone, advised its nationals living there to limit non-essential movement, especially at night, and to avoid traveling alone.
The Green Zone is a favoured target for mortar and rocket-propelled grenade fire from insurgents, but attacks are usually launched from outside its well-guarded walls.
