LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said that the decision of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) meant representation of Turkish Cypriot community, not TRNC.
Stating that some people said that TRNC parliamentarians were accepted to the PACE, Denktas noted, ''they don't accept parliamentarians of TRNC, but parliamentarians of Turkish Cypriot community. We should not delude ourselves. This decision clearly says that they don't recognize TRNC and they will not.''
Stating that he did not know what Turkey's and TRNC government's national targets were on Cyprus, Denktas said that they should protect the state and sovereignty.
Under the decision of PACE, two TRNC parliamentarians will be able to attend all sessions at the PACE including sessions of the general assembly and commissions. They will be able to explain their views, but they cannot vote.
