Turkey And World Bank Sign Water Rehabilitation Project Loan Agreement

WASHINGTON/ANKARA - Turkey and World Bank signed a loan agreement on Anatolia Watershed Rehabilitation Project, the Bank said on Tuesday.
A statement of the Bank said that the World Bank would grant 20 million U.S. dollars loan for the project, and 7 million U.S. dollars of grant would be ensured from the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Trust Fund.
The project aims to reduce environmental damages, raising regional income, and assuring sustainable natural resources management. It also aims at adjusting Turkey to European Union's water and environmental regulations.
The duration of the project is seven years. It will be implemented in 28 microcatchments in six different cities.
