GAZA CITY, Oct 5 (AFP) - The local head of Islamic Jihad's armed wing and another member of the radical group were killed Tuesday evening when an Israeli attack helicopter fired a missile at a car in Gaza City, Palestinian medical and security sources.
Islamic Jihad sources said Bashir al-Dibsh, 40, leader of the Al-Quds Brigades in the Gaza Strip had been killed in the strike, along with Dharif al-Ariir.
Medics said at least one other person was wounded in the strike.
An AFP correspondent at the scene said the blast, which took place near the entrance to the Shoti refugee camp in the western part of the city, completely destroyed the white Subaru car which the two men were travelling in.
The latest violence raised to 80 the number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel launched a massive offensive in northern Gaza on September 28.
It also raised to 4,441 the total number of people killed during the four-year Palestinian intifada, or uprising, including 3,416 Palestinians and 954 Israelis, according to an AFP tally.
