Cakici To Be Extradited To Turkey

VIENNA - Vienna state court decided on Monday to extradite Alaattin Cakici, a member of an organized crime organization, to Turkey.
Cakici said that he would not use his legal objection right to the decision. He added, ''for the first time, a silent revolution happened in Turkey since 1946. I would like to return to my country and deal with my state.''
Underworld boss Cakici, 51, was captured in his car on a highway near the southern Austrian city of Graz on July 14th, 2004 in a joint operation by the Turkish intelligence officers and Austrian police. He has been staying in a cell at the Vienna State Court's 'unit for criminals who are going to be extradited'.
He was released from prison in Turkey in 2002 after staying in prison for inciting an attack on a journalist and for ''forming and directing a gang with the aim to commit crimes''.
However, he fled Turkey in May 2004 and Interpol issued an international warrant for him as he was wanted for corruption, extortion and organized crime charges.
