WASHINGTON D.C. - Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Saturday that Turkish economy was on the right track, and stated that economy would be further strengthened with the new 3-year economic program.
Unakitan spoke to Turkish journalists after a meeting of the World Bank.
Finance Minister said, ''Turkey is on the right track in economic means. It is not appropriate to write bad scenarios. It will not be logical.'' He said bad scenarios like ''there would be an economic problem in September'' and ''growth rate target can not be reached'' never took place.
Stating that 12 pct inflation target would be reached and 6.5 pct primary surplus target would be reached according to the indications.
Unakitan said Turkey was waiting for a positive decision to be issued from the European Union (EU) to start full membership negotiations, stressing that, ''although decision of the EU does not meet Turkey's expectation, this will not create a difficulty in economic sense.''
