LEFKOSA - ''We are on the eve of a new assessment about Cyprus issue. Over the cancellation of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC)-European Union (EU) Foreign Ministers Joint Forum Second Meeting, it is necessary to find an answer to the question; what is our policy on Cyprus issue?'' said President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Saturday.
Noting, ''decision of the EU is a slap on OIC,'' Denktas called OIC to say ''since you did not take a decision of Islamic world into consideration, we now recognize this state as a full state.''
Holding a news conference on Saturday, Denktas said, ''when OIC accepted the name 'Turkish Cypriot State' as was envisioned in Annan Plan, Turkey said that it was not a definition which asks for recognition. However, the EU could not accept the risk and current situation emerged following the lobbying activities of Greek Cypriots.''
Denktas called Islamic world, which recognized Turkish Cypriot State or at least accepted its name, to unite against this slap of EU.
