Blair heads to country home for rest after heart op

LONDON, Oct 2 (AFP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair said Saturday that he felt in "excellent" health as he set off for his official country residence to rest after a successful minor heart operation.
Blair, 51, was speaking as he left Downing Street for Chequers, the country residence outside London available to all British prime ministers.
On Friday, he checked into a west London hospital for a relatively routine operation requiring only local anesthetic to correct an irregular heartbeat.
The prime minister has no meetings scheduled for the weekend and on Monday will return to Downing Street before a trip to Africa starting the next day.
