FALLUJAH, Iraq, Oct 2 (AFP) - A US marine and four soldiers were wounded on Saturday in separate bomb blasts near the flashpoint city of Fallujah, the northern city of Mosul and a slum district of Baghdad, the military said.
Insurgents targeted a marine convoy south of Karama, a town situated between Fallujah and Baghdad, at 7:30 am (0430 GMT), injuring one marine, said Lieutenant Lyle Gilbert, a spokesman for the marines stationed in the area.
The blast came as US forces pounded Fallujah, which they say harbours key hideouts of top foe Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi's network, killing at least seven people, a medical source said.
Separately, a US military vehicle was targeted by another car bomb in Mosul that left two soldiers wounded, spokeswoman Captain Angela Bowman said.
"They were evacuated but will be returned to duty," she told AFP.
The Mosul blast occurred in the Al-Yarmuk area of the city at about 10:40 am (0740 GMT), Bowman added.
Just over half an hour later, US troops were also targeted in the Baghdad Shiite slum of Sadr City, said spokesman Captain Brian O'Malley.
"An armoured personnel carrier was hit by an IED. Two (soldiers) were wounded," he said.
The two casualties were undergoing treatment, O'Malley said, declining to give further details on their condition.
