BAGHDAD, Oct 1 (AFP) - The US military Friday rejected accusations by a French MP that US troops had fired on a mercy mission to extricate two kindapped French newsmen, killing six escorts.
"I'd say that none of that is true ... I have not seen any reports that would indicate any of these stories showing up are accurate or true," said senior spokesman Rear Admiral Greg Slavonic.
French MP Didier Julia in Damascus Friday night said six Iraqis that were escorting French newsmen Georges Malbrunot and Christian Chesnot from their place of detention to safety had been killed by US fire on their convoy.
