Greek oil tanker runs aground in Danish waters

COPENHAGEN, Sept 30 (AFP) - A Greek tanker carrying 63,000 tonnes of gasoline ran aground on Thursday in the Kattegat sea, off the northeastern coast of Denmark, the Danish navy said.
The 228-metre (500-foot) tanker called the "Fotini Lady" grounded at 2:00 pm (1200 GMT) near Hatter Rev, east of the island of Samsoe, after straying outside of a navigation channel 700 metres (yards) wide, the navy said.
No leak has so far been found on the double-hulled tanker, which was put into circulation only last February, according to Danish authorities who sent a coastguard team and an anti-pollution ship to the site.
A navy spokesman said that Danish maritime authorities were in talks with the tanker's insurance company to discuss ways of lightening the ship's load in order to refloat it.
The tanker had sailed from Lithuania and was bound for the Mediterranean island of Malta.
