Turkish trucker killed in Iraq

ANKARA, Sept 28 (AFP) - A Turkish truck driver was killed in Iraq on Tuesday after his vehicle came under attack near the city of Mosul, Anatolia news agency reported.
Nizamettin Bilir, 46, was delivering fuel to US forces in Iraq when the attack happened, the agency said.
His body was handed over to his family at the Habur border crossing between Turkey and Iraq later in the day.
Turkish truckers have increasingly become the target of Iraqi insurgents -- some have been killed in violence on the roads and others have been kidnapped.
Most of the hostages have been released after their companies pledged to stop operating in the war-torn country.
Ankara has confirmed the killings of at least two Turkish hostages in Iraq, while describing as "credible" a report by the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera channel that three other Turks had been executed by their captors earlier this month.
