KIZILCAHAMAM - Turkish Environment & Forestry Minister Osman Pepe said that they would amend Environment Law within two or three months.
Speaking at Justice & Development Party (AK Party) Central Executive Board meeting in Kýzýlcahamam, near Ankara on Tuesday, Pepe recalled that articles 181 and 182 of Turkish Penal Code (TCK) envisage imprisonment to those who polluted environment on purpose, adding that an amendment to TCK postponed this imprisonment for two years.
Pepe said that this postponement did not mean that those who polluted environment would not be punished. Pepe noted that according to the Law no: 2872, enterprises which polluted environment intentionally or unintentionally would be fined or even those enterprises could be closed down.
