YILDIRIM SAYS TURKISH AUTHORITIES PURSUE INITIATIVES
DERINCE - Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim said on Tuesday that they pursued initiative to assure the release of Turkish drivers taken into custody in Syria.
When asked whether transportation in Syria was secure, Yildirim said, ''Turkish drivers were taken into custody on charges of violating customs law,'' noting that Turkish Foreign Ministry undertook necessary diplomatic measures. Yildirim said that his ministry also exerted efforts on the issue.
He added that Syrian territory was secure as regards road transportation, but risk in Iraqi territories was always a question.
